We understand the eagerness of those who really want to help make this project a reality therefore here is our guide to help you fundraise in order for you fulfill your sincere pledge!
Donating money to a worthwhile cause doesn’t have to be a daunting task for those who don’t have the millions to spare! In fact it can be really fun and more importantly fulfilling...we can guess that once you start you won’t want to stop.
So where do you start? Bellow we have 11 tips to help you get started. Please check out our projects pages along with a PDF fundraising pack full with information about our projects, ideas of exciting ways to fundraising and your very own sponsorship form!
Tips to get you started when fundraising!
1. Know your projects. If you are going to get people to invest in helping you need to know your cause! Have a read of our website as well as the project information you can find in the PDF pack. Once you know what your fundraising for it will be easier for you to get other excited about the very same thing your excited about helping!
2. Write a really meaningful personal message to those on your email list or social sites like FaceBook/ MySpace/ twitter - turn it into a story. What will encourage your friends/family/strangers to donate? What would make you donate? Tell them the same.
3. Tailor your message depending on the people you know. Those who are older you can ask for a little bit more, and those who are younger or students you can encourage them that no charity is too small!
4. Get a JustGiving page web! We suggest you do www.justgiving.com/ (your name)’s JT. Put the link in your email signature, so everyone you email has a chance to visit your page and make a donation. Make sure to register with us your justgiving page also so we can help direct support towards it.
5. Throw a gathering in your house inviting your family and friends, and have a talk or put on a performance and play our 1Eid videos available upon request, thereafter present the project to everyone and ask them to help you achieve your pledge. This could be through donations or by arranging some sort of community event with them.
6. In our fundraising pack we have lots of ideas of how you can fundraising, from bake sales, fancy dresses or sponsored walks find a fun way to get people involved and help a good cause!
7. Put a video or photos on your JustGiving/ Facebook/Twitter pages. Keep it up to date so it's interesting for people to come back and find out how you're getting on, or send it to their friends.
8. Talk to your charity to ask for info on their work and what your supporters' donations will go towards for those who would like more information. Never say i don’t know! Always have confidence and belief in what you do and remember we are just an email away!
9. Contact your local paper/radio station - send them a press release with your JustGiving web address so people can donate. Ask your Company/School/Masjid to put your page in their website/internet or mailing lists.
10. Send fun reminder emails to people to nudge them to donate. Keep fundraising after the event!
11. Remember to thank people - do it on your JustGiving page, in an email, with a card, on your blog/ Facebook/ Twitter - make them feel good for supporting you!
